OUR IMPACT

There’s a saying in the rescue world,

“Who rescued who?”

And we feel this reverse saying applies to our impact as well–

Indeed,

“Who is impacting who?”

In a world where quantity is emphasized over quality, it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers. And while we can count the hundreds of blankets we’ve collected, towels we’ve donated, or newspapers we’ve rolled since 2019, what we can’t measure is the HOPE we’ve helped instill.

Indeed… What is the impact:

When a shelter worker sees a full stack of newspaper available for puppy and kitten care, rather than a bare shelf?

When a laundry worker has an extra set of towels ready for bathtime, rather than desperately reusing towels that are already soaked?

When an animal snuggles up to a comfortable blanket, rather than feeling the coldness of a hard floor?

And, most of all, what is the impact when a lonely shelter pet receives special attention and a new toy, handmade with love from the hands of a child?

We can’t measure it, but we can see it.

And we’re so thankful to our donors who help us share this hope! So THANK YOU for helping us IMPACT the lives of shelter pets while they await adoption!

Of course, the most wonderful part of this IMPACT is the full circle of HOPE that it creates!

Because when we see a sparkle of HOPE ignited in the eyes of a shelter pet, it’s contagious.

Not just for us, as volunteers – but potential adopters see this HOPE too – they see the transformation as fear and stress melt away, revealing a cheerful dog, wagging his tail. Or they hear the transformation as silence and skittishness is gently replaced with the purrs of a playful kitten.

And that’s the point when a new chapter is being written, a new story unfolding, where we don’t always know the ending- or rather, the happy new beginning!

We may not get to see the future family photos of a cherished pet, living his or her best life. We may never hear their new owner expressing joy over this new, unbreakable bond. And we may never know all of the years of happiness that await them both!

But we know it’s happening, and that’s the true full circle – the true IMPACT – of PAWS-Bhm!

Which makes us wonder again,
